Today we began 8 weeks of Friday morning drawing in the Chapel. I didn't
realise how long it has been since I sat down and really looked at
objects and tried to draw them. The discipline of sitting down and
focusing on something for 3 hours is hard, but ultimitely satisfying.
The whole time I kept asking myself "How does this relate to my work?". I
feel multiple personalities coming to a head when I draw realistically,
when I freely draw for illustration and when I make prints... I guess
it is your hand in all of it and the things your eye picks up on.
Anyway, it is good to think about and good to spend the time really
looking. x
I think the sharpenings drawing is my favorite. It captures playfulness and represents what was in front of me. I might try and do some more like this. I will keep you informed!Thursday, 2 February 2012
